Choosing a mood tracking app that survives the month
By Bottle Me
Rather than ranking apps you have already seen listed elsewhere, here are the criteria that predict whether you will still be using one in six weeks.
Four things that matter
Entry speed — under a minute or it will not happen on hard days. Emotional resolution — can it record mixed states? Review value — is the history actually readable? Pressure — does it punish you for skipping?
Where colour-based tracking wins
It scores well on speed, resolution and review, because a wall of coloured bottles is faster to read than a chart and richer than an emoji log.
Where it does not
If you need exportable structured data for a therapist, a numeric tracker is a better fit. Some people run both.
